is a violinist and musicologist born and raised in the southern Brazilian province of Rio Grande do Sul.
Between 2012 and 2017 he made five research trips to the Northwest of Argentina, developing his musicological ethnography on the practice of coplas singing with caja, in Amaicha del Valle.
He is the founder, director, vocalist and violinist of Baxtale! - Romani Music Research Group, the only musical ensemble specialized in performing the traditional music of the Hungarian Vlax Roma in Latin America.
Ivan is also the founder, director, vocalist and violinist of the Hungarian Band of São Paulo, a musical group specialized in the performance of Hungarian-language popular music from different eras and styles.
Ivan has a degree in violin and a master's degree in musicology from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. He currently lives in São Paulo.
